Are You Breathing Correctly?

Breathing is a gift that is given to all of us when we are birthed and when we are born.  These days breathing is taken for granted.  Many people lead busy lives and although they take breaths they are not breathing.  They do not take a moment to relax and breathe.  It is funny how the mind can work when busyness takes precedence over self-care.  The very thing that keeps us alive takes a backseat because the task at hand becomes more important.  I remember sitting in a holistic health and wellness class and the person teaching was talking about breathing.  That was the first time in all my 25 years at the time that I took that deep of a breath.

Discovering this breath was similar to when I discovered that there was more than one type of water haha.  Sometimes we have a tendency to think that everything is the same and what difference does is make?  It makes a huge difference in the quality of life.  It makes a huge difference...

Is Social Isolation From COVID-19 Causing You Stress? [Ways To Cope]

It has been about 4 months since many people have been in social isolation.  With all of the news scares going around it is no surprise to see that many people have been social distancing out of sheer fear.  You see all of these statistics on the news about how many people are dying of COVID-19 and instantly the cortisol levels of the population arise.

I personally have not been social distancing and I also do not believe the statistics shown on the news.  However I can empathize deeply with people around the world who's mental health has been greatly impacted by this.  I feel for people who are unfamiliar with: medical research, how viruses work, nutrition to boost immunity, and the false news narratives designed to instill fear in people.

People are doing as they are told because they believe that the news and people in so-called power recommending social distancing have their best interest at heart.  I thought about social distancing...

Are you asking for permission to start a health-coaching program? Here is why you should stop

Investing in a health-coaching program may not seem ideal when you have tried every single coaching program on the planet and found that nothing worked for you. Maybe you have tried Weight Watcher’s. Maybe you have tried a 12-week program that included fitness and nutrition. Maybe you have tried a life-coaching program.   However when you left those programs you have felt completely bamboozled. You invested in those programs and saw absolutely no results.

Now you feel as though a program won’t work for you. Now you may not even trust yourself because the other programs didn’t work. You may feel tempted as many people are to consult with someone about your decision. Having a conversation with someone about a decision that you are in the process of making usually gives some sort of comfort. You feel as though you have made the right decision.

Someone has either encouraged you to join the program or discouraged you. Whether they are for or...

Stop People Pleasing to Boost Your Energy

People pleasing is the act of going against your authenticity and your boundaries to please another person because you feel as though if you don’t do what makes them happy, they will get upset with you. People pleasing is something that many people partake in. Over the years I have come to realize that it stems from fear and a lack of boundaries.

Fear sets in when you feel as though you will lose people if you speak your truth and let them know that you don’t want to attend their party, their function, or hang out with them when they may want you to. Let’s say one of your friends wanted you to go to the movies, but you were absolutely exhausted and had loads of work.

Out of fear you may say “yes” to that friend. You may also fear that if you say “no” there will be a conflict. This is where overthinking comes in. You are already thinking of having a potential argument and an unsatisfactory outcome.

Can Exercise Reduce Your Stress Levels?

Have you have ever heard that exercise is a drug or an anti-depressant?  Well there is no exaggeration there.  Exercise releases certain chemical responses in the body that people who are addicted to drugs crave.  Exercise is a much healthier alternative to substance abuse and dealing with stress.

It is something everyone should be doing on a daily basis.  It gets you moving and not living a sedentary lifestyle.  Exercise is crucial to the health of the lymphatic system.  Your lymphatic system is closely related to your immune system.  When you are moving and not allowing yourself to be sedentary you are giving your body a chance to flush out any toxins.

When toxic waste sits in the body it creates an inflammatory response, which can raise stress levels.  An inflammatory response can also be linked to imbalance in the body.  If you are healthy, the body can eliminate the toxins.

You want to make sure you are moving every single day. ...

How To Feel Deserving

If you struggle with feeling deserving of all the good things in life you are not alone. Many people feel this way and for very specific reasons. Some people have experienced traumas that have made them feel so bad to the point where anything good feels foreign to them. Some people have experienced situations where every time something good happened to them someone put down their accomplishments and made them feel small.

When people treat you poorly or minimize your accomplishments it is super easy to not feel deserving. Those feelings of guilt creep in. You no longer feel worthy because someone made you feel less than. You feel as though good things are for people better than you. It is because of this mindset that you and many others sabotage the goodness that tries to enter their lives.

These are common behaviors and typical when abuse or neglect of some sort occurs. According to the International Journal of Psychiatry in Clinical Practice there is a relationship...

How To Manage Your Time As A Mom

Whether you are a stay–at-home mom or a working mom managing your time can be difficult.  You are not only taking care of yourself, you are taking care of others.  When you do not have good time management you can feel stressed, overwhelmed, and extremely anxious.  There is a sense of not feeling balanced and not at peace.

As a mom many people are demanding of your time.  If you are married with children then your husband and your children require your time.  If you are not married, but have children then children require your time.  Add working on top of this, well many people need you.  However you need yourself as well.  Managing your time is a form of self care so you can visibly see where you can find time for yourself and others.

When you are able to manage your time you can feel clear-headed and feel a sense of accomplishment.  Everything you set out to do that day you were able to implement because you planned ahead...

Could Sleep Make You Lose Weight?

Sleep is the gift that keeps on giving. However many of us do not get enough sleep. Sleep is responsible for mood function, hormone regulation, disease prevention, and cognitive function. It is because of this that sleep is of the utmost importance. An inadequate amount of sleep has been linked to hypertension, obesity, type 2 diabetes, impaired-immune function, cardiovascular disease, dementia, mood disorders, and loneliness. Up until most recently sleep has been quite the issue for me. I love what I do so much in the field of holistic health and medical research, that sometimes I do not want to stop.

However I recognize that I can only help people as much as I help myself. I discovered that going to sleep between 10 pm and 2 am gives the body a chance to replenish itself, supports dietary benefits, releases the necessary hormones, and allows for optimal health function. Of course you can sleep past 2 am, but going to sleep prior gives your body the full benefit. When the body...

Can Stress Eating Make You Leptin Resistant?

There is so much happening in the world right now and it can be tempting to eat due to stress. Stress eating is the act of putting food in your mouth due to an uncomfortable situation whether internal or external, which is causing you to eat in order to cope. Many people stress eat and I have even had a long history of stress eating. Instead of getting to the root cause and using other tools to deal with the emotional unrest I was dealing with I turned to food.

My favorite food to eat when I was stressed was cheesecake, lots of cheesecake, lavender and lemon cheesecake to be exact.  I would get an entire cheesecake, which was approximately 8 slices and almost eat the entire thing.  I looked at eating lots of food as a reward for everything I was dealing with.  Who can relate to this feeling?  It’s the thought that you put in your head to make the food you choose to put in your mouth a valid option for coping with your specific issue.

I kept...
